Musical Meeting

Children’s and Straight River Chorale: 

Elevate your voice through engaging music alongside joyful interactions and experiences! We are looking for new members who (1) love to sing and (2) are committed to our weekly Sunday rehearsals.

Before registering for SRYS, you will have a musical meeting with Ms. Williams, Ms. Brasher or Ms. Harthan. At the (in-person or online) get-together, singers will:

• Be greeted warmly in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
• Sing a song of their choice. (It can even be “Happy Birthday”)
• Sing back musical phrases that are sung to them.
• Demonstrate what they know about reading music. (The ability to read music is not a requirement for joining.) 

Auditions

The singers of straight river

Bring your friends and dig deeply into substantive choral music that inspires and captivates both the singer and their audiences. We are looking for new members who love choral music and are excited to take their singing to the next level. Previous choral experience is not necessarily a requirement. We have found that pianists and instrumentalists from both orchestra and band can thrive in a higher level choral experience and we are well-equipped to guide all of our singers to the next phase of their musical journeys.

Before registering for SRYS, you will have an in-person audition. You can expect to:

• Be greeted warmly in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
• Sing a prepared song of their choice. If you would like the piano to accompany you, please bring sheet music.
• Sing back musical phrases that are sung to them.
• Demonstrate what they know about reading music. (The ability to read music is not a requirement for joining, but it is highly encouraged.)
